Within the immediate vicinity of Old Ambalindum are a number of options for easy and interesting bush walks, past picturesque waterholes and a large lake, where a variety of birdlife can be seen. Most of the walks are also suitable for mountain bike riding. Maps are provided at the office. Following the recent rains, all the waterholes are full and can be accessed by small canoes or a blow-up dingy to have a closer look at nature.
For those interested in more challenging walking and orienteering activities, a number of trails offer everything from easy hills to challenging mountainous routes. ![]() 0.3 Km: The Waterhole stroll - easy and flat access to waterhole. 5.1 Km: Arltunga Road - wide gravel road, crosses Hale River near Claraville 5.1 Km: The Horse Paddock - 2 wheel track, rough in places, undulating. 8.0 Km: The main road - graded gravel road, crosses Hale River mid way. 6.9 Km: The Prospectors track - challenging, steep and rugged, but spectacular. Past Ambalindum Dam, and ends at Arltunga Historical reserve. |
