Old Ambalindum is located in the “Arltunga Loop” tourist road to the East of Alice Springs, and is also on the newly promoted “Binns Track”.

Take the Ross Highway East from Alice Springs for 70km (all sealed) then turn left onto the gravel Arltunga Tourist Road (also signposted as the “Binns Track”).

After another 33km you pass the old Arltunga Bush Pub (currently closed) on the left, then straight on and follow the “Binns Track” signs to Ambalindum.

9.0km - Emily Gap on your left - GPS: 23 44’34”S, 133 57’14”E

16.1km - Jesse Gap on your left - GPS: 23 44’52”S, 134 01’07”E

41.6km - Corroboree Rock t/o on left {1km} - GPS: 23 41’22”S, 134 14’10”E

64.8km - Trephina Gorge t/o on left {8km} - GPS: 23 34’14”S, 134 22’57”E

69.8km - Turn Left onto Arltunga Tourist Rd (gravel) also “Binns Track” - GPS: 23.33’57”S, 134 25’52”E

102.4km - Old Arltunga Hotel on left, then 100m straight on past Arltunga Historical Reserve t/o on left.
GPS:  23 27’51”S, 134 41’17”E

105.1km - Turn left Signposts “Binns Track” & “Ambalindum” (Ruby Gap to right) - GPS:  23 27’50”S, 134 42’38”E

107.4km - Straight on at crossroads in reserve (old ruin on left) S/posts Ambalindum, “Claraville” etc.
GPS: 23.26’45”S, 134 43’02”E

109.4km - Ambalindum Station boundary grid - GPS: 23 25’54”S, 134.43’21”E

117.0km - Straight on main road past Claraville house on left. Green & white sign “Old Ambalindum Homestead” -  GPS: 23 22’14”S, 134  45’01”E

124.4km - Keep left on main road past the “Cattlewater Pass” t/o on right, then 100mtrs keep left off main road. (s/post “Ambalindum Station, private road”) - GPS: 23 22’53”S, 134 40’48”E

Then 250mtrs gate,  “Welcome to Old Ambalindum Homestead”

** NOTE ; The condition of the gravel road, like all outback roads, does vary considerably, and is sometimes corrugated. Normal “sealed surface” caravans are not advised to use these roads, but they are suitable for more rugged “off-road” style of vans.   
But if your van isn’t suitable, why not unhitch and leave it in “The Alice” for a day or two and treat yourself to the comforts of Old Ambalindum’s accommodation?
